Biography Hanneman design was founded in 2005 by Sarah Hanneman BFA, (Textile Art), DEP (Upholstery). To fulfill her passion for fabric, Ms Hanneman studied textile art at Concordia University, where she developed an interest in period fabrics, weaving and technical fabrics, and leading projects in costume design, dyeing and millinery. Keen to put her knowledge into practice, she studied upholstery at Centre Père Marquette to allow her to apply her talent to three-dimensional projects. She developed her studies with an internship at a leading contemporary upholsterer in Montreal, and worked as the assistant sales and showroom manager for an exclusive fabric store in the upmarket Westmount district of the city, catering only to the trade. During this time, she became familiar with a vast array of fabric designs, trims and accessories, while building up good relationships with top trade fabric suppliers across the world. Ms Hanneman, who has a strong interest in international design, expanded her knowledge of global upholstery trends during her travels to Rome, Florence, New York, Chicago, and Australia.
